Who We Are

 

Issaquah Middle PTSA is a private, non-profit organization with members dedicated to the service of the students, parents and staff of Issaquah Middle School and we advocate for the health, education, safety and welfare of all children. We are affiliated with the Washington State PTA and National PTA. Membership in our PTSA supports many programs and events and benefits the IMS community.

We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your donations to PTSA are tax deductible.


Standing Rules
We are governed by the Washington State PTA Uniform Bylaws.
In addition, we have Standing Rules which define specific conditions that govern our PTSA.
These rules are not allowed to be in conflict with the Washington State PTA Bylaws.


PTSA Mission and Goals
Mission Statement:
To encourage and support parent involvement, input, and participation in student academic learning and activities.
To work cooperatively with teachers and staff to provide a safe environment where respect and high expectations for achievement are reached.
To encourage students to be responsible, knowledgeable, caring and productive citizens.

Goals for 2010-2011:

1.      Strive for 100% membership so every student is represented by an adult voice.

2.      Build a strong and supportive community

  •             Reach out to 6th grade parents with a “Get the Scoop on IMS” parent education event and social evening.
  •             Broaden the donor base in the Angel program.
  •             Plan and implement a 2nd Family Fun Night with the goal of including more staff members.
  •             Meet and greet new parents at school music concerts

3.      Improve our communications between team, members, staff and the community

  •             Send regular updates via email
  •             Keep the website homepage current
  •             Send quarterly updates to teachers
  •             Update notebooks of chairs
  •             Reach out to committee chairs with entrance and exit interviews

4.      Transition smoothly to on-line communications/business

  •             Collect most membership and donations on-line and maintain our current level at least
  •             Keep website updated with accurate, useful information
