Who We Are

 

Issaquah Middle PTSA is a private, non-profit organization with members dedicated to the service of the students, parents and staff of Issaquah Middle School and we advocate for the health, education, safety and welfare of all children. We are affiliated with the Washington State PTA and National PTA. Membership in our PTSA supports many programs and events and benefits the IMS community.

We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and your donations to PTSA are tax deductible.


Standing Rules
We are governed by the Washington State PTA Uniform Bylaws.
In addition, we have Standing Rules which define specific conditions that govern our PTSA.
These rules are not allowed to be in conflict with the Washington State PTA Bylaws.


PTSA Mission and Goals
Mission Statement:
To encourage and support parent involvement, input, and participation in student academic learning and activities.
To work cooperatively with teachers and staff to provide a safe environment where respect and high expectations for achievement are reached.
To encourage students to be responsible, knowledgeable, caring and productive citizens.

Goals for 2012-2013:
  1. Strive for 100% membership so every student is represented by an adult voice.
  2. Build a strong and supportive parent community
    1. Present Get the Scoop to parents at Back to School Check-In
    2. Increase participation and socializing at Parent Education events 
    3.  Increase participation in Walk-About
    4. Meet and greet parents at school chorus concerts
  3. Maintain Effective Communication
    1. Send regular email notices to members
    2. Keep website updated with current, accurate, and useful information
    3. Send quarterly updates to teachers
    4. Keep chair notebooks updated annually
    5. Entrance/Exit Interviews
  4. Continued support of academic excellence for students at IMS
    1. Encourage maximum use of available PTSA teacher grant funds
    2. Encourage maximum use of available PTSA classroom funds
    3. Continue to increase Angel Program donor base
    4. Continue to provide nutritional support during student testing
    5. Support ISF teacher grant applications by providing the assistance of a PTSA volunteer as a dedicated grant writer.
