March General Membership Meeting

Find out about the latest school and PTSA news at the next General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, March 24th from 6:30-7:30PM via Zoom. All are welcome. We will be recognizing our Golden Acorn Award winner(s)! Principal Reckling will be our guest speaker. Please submit any questions for her here by noon on Wednesday, March 24th. Meeting documents, agenda and Zoom link will be posted closer to the date on our website.

Help Show Support for IMS Teachers and Staff! 

The IM PTSA continues to show our appreciation for the wonderful staff of IMS in new ways. We are currently seeking volunteers to assist those efforts by working on a creative replacement for our annual PTSA sponsored Staff Appreciation Week (May 3rd-7th). WSPTA Reflections Art Contest Finalists Announced


The Reflections Art Program Award honors imagination, creativity and interpretation of an annual theme. This year, with over 600 submittals representing 180 local PTA units that advanced to the state level, we are thrilled to share that one of our very own IMS students was recognized at the STATE level competition.   

CONGRATULATIONS to IMS 6th grader Sally D. who received the WSPTA Reflections Award of Merit for her Literature entry (Middle School 6-8) entitled “The Result of Friendship”. We’re so proud of you Sally!

Supporting Your Child During COVID-19
The Swedish School-Based Mental Health counselors for the ISD Middle Schools were kind enough to hold a presentation on March 11th. If you missed the event, the video can be found HERE.

Our School Based Mental Health Specialist at IMS is Katherine Lincicum. She is a wonderful resource for IMS families!


Influence the Choice Events


In the spirit of their mission to support the physical, emotional and social wellness of our youth, Influence the Choice has announced their first annual Spring Fun Run!  Registration is open now through April 5th. The virtual event happens April 5th-30th with a Finisher event on May 1st. Find out more HERE.

Lights Camera Action!
The Influence the Choice Student Video Contest is now open! The contest gives students the opportunity to positively influence each other by producing a 2-minute public service announcement. There are CASH prizes including a grand prize of $1000 and is open to Middle and High School students. Find out more HERE.

What IS Influence the Choice?
Influence the Choice (ITC) is a community-based non-profit organization dedicated to preventing substance abuse and promoting the mental, physical and social wellness of our youth. They are affiliated with many community partners including the Issaquah PTSA Council (the council that the IMPTSA local unit belongs to). They conduct the Healthy Youth Survey along with other district wide efforts including the TECH (Teens Encouraging Community Health) Group made up of middle and high school students in the ISD.
