President’s Letter

March is an exciting time for everyone at IMS.

The last day of the 2nd trimester is Friday, March 11, which means there is a half day of school the following Friday, March 18.  Early release time is10:25 am.

IMS will officially welcome incoming 6th graders Monday, March 14 and hold a 5th Grade Parent Night that same evening.

Counselors from the high school have already started educating students and parents about courses and curriculum offered at IHS.

The current 6th and 7th grade classes will soon receive packets for next year as well.

On top of planning classes for next year, everyone at IMS is preparing for the move to the new IMS school building.  If you would like to help with the move, be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities to take place near the end of the school year.

Speaking of the new school building, did you know we get updates at every IM PTSA monthly membership meeting about construction progress?  If you are interested in learning more please join us on Wednesday, March 23, at 10:30 at the Issaquah Community Center in the Teen Lounge.  We hope you can join us!

Last of all, Don’t forget to “spring ahead” one hour next weekend as Daylight Savings Time begins on Sunday, March 13.

Have a great week,
Becky Gordon
Anxiety – Yours, Mine and Ours, by Laura Kastner PhD

Tues, Mar 8th, 2016
7:00-8:30pm
Issaquah High School, Theater
(for parents of middle/high school teens)

This lecture will discuss research on teen stress by author of Wise Minded Parenting (among other publications), Laura Kastner PhD.  Some stress is good! Challenges energize, focus and motivate us.  Stress management and resilience are key personal strengths that can determine success or failure.  Learn how to help, rather than hinder, your teens’ stress management.

Issaquah School Bond - Responsible Financing: The Issaquah School District is one of only a handful of districts in the nation with a Moody’s Aaa rating and an S&P AA+ rating. Only 0.45% of school districts nationwide have this distinction! This allows the district to borrow funds at a lower interest rate and therefore save taxpayers
money.

PLEASE JOIN US!
The ISF Nourish Every Mind Luncheon is Thursday, April 28.  IM PTSA will host a table for the Nourish Every Mind Luncheon.  We would love for you to join us.  This is a wonderful event to learn more about the Issaquah Schools Foundation.  Please contact Becky Gordon if you would like to have a seat at our table!!
