MAKE YOUR MARK AT THE NEW SCHOOL-GET YOUR BRICK!!!
Make your mark on the new IMS! The PTSA is selling bricks this spring as a unique opportunity to be a part of our new building and to raise much needed funds to continue to support all the programs that the PTSA provides, including classroom funds and the Angel Program. The bricks will be permanently installed at the main entrance of the new IMS. Purchase an engraved 4x8 brick for one or all of your children, or for future alumni. Or, make your brick a dedication towards or about the school, such as a favorite activity or memory from IMS. To order yours visit the PTSA websiteor download a paper order form here.
PBSES Parent Information Night
The Student Support Coaches are hosting a parent information night in May. The presentations will contain information related to Positive Behavior and Social Emotional Support (PBSES). The workshop will contain information about what PBSES is and parents can learn about what your child’s school is doing to support the behavioral and social/emotional needs of students. The Student Support Coaches will be providing information on Growth vs. Fixed Mindset and how what we say can empower our students to build resiliency. Parents will be provided with evidence-based strategies that are being used at each building and can be used to support their students at home. There will be an optional Q & A session following the presentation.
Presentations will take place at the middle school and information for parents of students at the middle school and elementary schools in the feeder pattern are welcome to attend. For IMS and our feeder schools the talk will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2016- Issaquah Middle School with Clark, Cougar Ridge, and Issaquah Valley Elementary schools from 6:30pm to 8pm

Cybercrime: Keeping Your Child Safe Online Join us for a discussion with Officer Diego Zanella in theIssaquah Middle School Commons on May 23rd at 7pm. We’ll discuss how to avoid potential dangers as our kids navigate social media and the online world. Kids don’t mean to run into trouble online, but their developing brains are curious and want to explore. A large portion of middle schoolers already have internet-enabled devices and potential dangers include cyberstalking, cyberbullying, sexting, access to pornography, harassment, and assaults. Learn how to keep your child safe and your family’s information private. This is an adults-only event. Childcare will be provided in the IMS library.
You know your tax dollars will be wisely managed: The Issaquah School District has the highest bond rating of any school district in the state and has earned both a Moody’s Aaa bond rating and a S&P AA+ rating. Less than one-half percent of districts in the country have earned this dual bond rating which allows the district to borrow funds at a lower interest rate and saves taxpayers money. For 13 consecutive years the district has has clean audits by the Washington State Auditor’s Office.
Why now? Available land for schools is becoming increasingly scarce. Land and construction costs will only increase as the region’s economy expands. Now is the time to secure land and prepare for incoming students.
Why? Our schools are overcrowded. Our student population has grown by more than 2,000 kids over the last 4 years and we expect up to 2,000 more in the next 5 years, as well as a significant influx of students into full-day kindergarten. This explosive growth requires more schools and additional classrooms in elementary schools.
What will it cost? The district effectively manages your tax dollars which means your school tax rate will not increase. Bond sales are structured and timed so that rates remain level.
