Volunteer Opportunities!
IMS is preparing for the big move to the new school this summer and needs a little help! If you would like to be added to a list of volunteers the school can call upon for some unique end of the year opportunities, please sign up HERE. You will be asked to sign in to the website before you can access the volunteer list. On-line sign ups will be sent out for various jobs during the last trimester, particularly in June, and will include primarily packing books and other supplies, especially in the library. Many hands make light work!
Parent Education!!!
Cybercrime: Keeping Your Child Safe Online Join us for a discussion with Officer Diego Zanella in the Issaquah Middle School Commons on May 23rd at 7pm. We’ll discuss how to avoid potential dangers as our kids navigate social media and the online world. Kids don’t mean to run into trouble online, but their developing brains are curious and want to explore. A large portion of middle schoolers already have internet-enabled devices and potential dangers include cyberstalking, cyberbullying, sexting, access to pornography, harassment, and assaults. Learn how to keep your child safe and your family’s information private. This is an adults-only event. Childcare will be provided in the IMS library.

LUNCH FOR THE BREAK COLLECTION STARTS MONDAY!!
IM PTSA will participate in this program for the upcoming Spring Break. Donations will be collected in the office starting on April 4. We will register to donate 5 boxes - but we will happily collect and deliver as many boxes as we can - so if the sign up genius is full - keep on shopping!
MAKE YOUR MARK AT THE NEW SCHOOL-GET YOUR BRICK!!!
Make your mark on the new IMS! The PTSA is selling bricks this spring as a unique opportunity to be a part of our new building and to raise much needed funds to continue to support all the programs that the PTSA provides, including classroom funds and the Angel Program. The bricks will be permanently installed at the main entrance of the new IMS. Purchase an engraved 4x8 brick for one or all of your children, or for future alumni. Or, make your brick a dedication towards or about the school, such as a favorite activity or memory from IMS. To order yours visit the PTSA website or download a paper order formhere.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP WITH TALENT SHOW!! Calling parents with talents for helping! We welcome any parents who would like to help prepare for this year's ASB Talent Show. Any experience with similar projects from the past (at elementary school, etc...) would be a plus, but not necessary. Tryouts are April 7th, followed by prep and rehearsals for a few weeks. The show is April 29th after school. ContactMs Donahoe if interested. Click hereto sign up for help with concessions at the event. April 26, 2016 ISD Building Bond... What is the cost and why do we need this Bond now?
You know your tax dollars will be wisely managed: The Issaquah School District has the highest bond rating of any school district in the state and has earned both a Moody’s Aaa bond rating and a S&P AA+ rating. Less than one-half percent of districts in the country have earned this dual bond rating which allows the district to borrow funds at a lower interest rate and saves taxpayers money. For 13 consecutive years the district has has clean audits by the Washington State Auditor’s Office. Why now? Available land for schools is becoming increasingly scarce. Land and construction costs will only increase as the region’s economy expands. Now is the time to secure land and prepare for incoming students. Why? Our schools are overcrowded. Our student population has grown by more than 2,000 kids over the last 4 years and we expect up to 2,000 more in the next 5 years, as well as a significant influx of students into full-day kindergarten. This explosive growth requires more schools and additional classrooms in elementary schools. What will it cost? The district effectively manages your tax dollars which means your school tax rate will not increase. Bond sales are structured and timed so that rates remain level. VOTE YES! FOR ISSAQUAH SCHOOLS BY APRIL 26th! Ballots dropApril 6th…Please Vote before Spring Break!
