We will need to set everything up by 5:15 pm 5th GRADE PARENT NIGHT SIGN-UP HERE
Orchestra Concert on THURSDAY, March 9th Please help make this night special by donating 3 dozen finger-type treats. Treats can be homemade or store bought...whichever fits your schedule the best. You or your child can drop it off in the office the morning of the concert or simply bring it with you the night of the concert. ORCHESTRA TREAT SIGN-UP SHEET.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Organization is coming to IMS on March 14th!! The wildly successful Backpack Bootcamp is back again!
The PTSA is running the next edition of Binder Bootcamp, an ongoing initiative to support students who are struggling with organization. Lack of organization can lead to missed homework, misplaced completed homework and general angst!
Parent volunteers will work one-to-one with students who are referred by teachers, counselors and parents. We will provide a brief training and all the supplies needed to help students organize their binder.
The number of students we are able to help depends upon the number of parent volunteers. Please consider helping with this worthwhile (and fun) activity and feel free to sign up for multiple shifts if you are able to give an entire morning or afternoon. Please sign up by Monday, March 13 to allow time to allocate and schedule students to be helped based on our volunteer numbers.
Support is needed for teachers who are trying to help students with missing assignments at lunch. Sign-up once or as many times as you like each week! It is super easy and the teachers REALLY APPRECIATE the help! Duties include:
Obtain list of students from office
Turn on 5-6 Surfaces for students to use
Going to lunchroom and asking for kids to be called over loudspeaker
Keeping track of who attended and whether work is completed

The Gift of Failure: Fostering Intrinsic Motivation and Resilience in Kids
What's the best way to motivate students to own their education, learn deeply and durably, and develop resilience? Research has shown that the key to all these things is intrinsic motivation, or motivation that comes from within. Jessica Lahey summarizes the current research on autonomy-supportive parenting and teaching, competence, rewards, praise, and failure. Finally, she explains how parents and educators can give students the support and encouragement they need in order to stay motivated over the long term.
Free for PTA/PTSA members of Issaquah Schools. For non-members, requested donation of $20 at the door. Save your seats by clicking the 'Register' button.
Join our Community Book Read! Books available at Issaquah Barnes & Noble after Feb 13th, or anytime at KCLS or Amazon (via ISF). Be ready to meet the author Apr 25th, and attend post discussions (TBD) how we can bring about a cultural change in our community!
