Issaquah Middle School hosts an amazing program called Walkabout. Its purpose is to bring parents into the school to walk the halls among the students in the mornings right before classes start, during lunches, and after school as the kids are getting ready to leave. It's easy, brief, flexible, and one of few opportunities middle school parents have to be around the kids, and allows IMS to have a positive adult presence at busy times during the school day. You can walk alone or with another parent(s). Once you receive training, you can choose to participate at whatever level suits you....once a year, every day, or anywhere in between. If you're interested, please save the date for training:Thursday, Sept. 28 from 7:00-8:30pm.Packet Stuffing
Come help us help the office staff get first day packets ready to go! Just a two hour commitment on August 31st from 10-12
Please help us welcome back our incredible IMS staff with our annual FALL STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON! We'll have for them Subway sandwiches, fruit, chips, beverages, and desserts. But we need lots of help to make it a success! Please take a moment to visit the PTSA's website to sign-up to bring something and/or volunteer for set-up or clean-up. (You will need to register on the PTSA website, but do not need to be a PTSA member.)
The lunch will be on Tues Sept 5 at 12:30pm. All items (perishable or nonperishable) can be dropped off at the school's front office on Fri Sept 1 (7:30am-4:00pm) or Tues Sept 5 (7:30am-10:00am). If you need to arrange a different drop-off time, please feel free to coordinate with either Cecily Novak ((206) 288-3136) or Jodi Freudenberger ((206) 330-5569).
IMPORTANT: Please label all items you bring in "Fall Staff Luncheon" and please label with YOUR NAME any plates or items you need returned. If you do send in a plate, it will be washed and waiting for you in the front office at the end of the day. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!GRAB a FRIEND & HELP IMS at SALMON DAYS!!
Thanks to our generous friends at Issaquah Valley Elementary, our PTSA has been given the opportunity to share the profits and the work of parking cars on Salmon Days. IVE will supply the parking spaces, the cones and half the volunteers. This is a great opportunity for us to increase our bottom line and help our budget! To do so, we need a chair! This is a job for someone who likes organization, but you will have lots of board support! Want to know more? Contact Kristen Allen-Bentsen at kallenbentsen@hotmail.com
WalkAbout Veterans
The school year is almost upon us and we want to flood the halls of IMS with positive, welcoming adults in those first few weeks. Kids are navigating a new place, seven class periods, confusing lockers, and a lot more bodies than they are used to in elementary school. Please jump in and help us build a strong, connected, positive community.
