Issaquah Middle School hosts an amazing program called Walkabout. Its purpose is to bring parents into the school to walk the halls among the students in the mornings right before classes start, during lunches, and after school as the kids are getting ready to leave. It’s easy, brief, flexible, and one of few opportunities middle school parents have to be around the kids, and allows IMS to have a positive adult presence at busy times during the school day. You can walk alone or with another parent(s). Once you receive training, you can choose to participate at whatever level suits you….once a year, every day, or anywhere in between. If you’re interested, please save the date for training:Thursday, Sept. 28 from 7:00-8:30pm.
SALMON DAYS PARKING NEEDS YOU - YOU GET FREE PARKING!!
IMS is excited to join efforts with IVE and put on the annual Salmon Days parking fundraiser. We need your help! Please consider donating two hours of your time to help direct cars at the IVE field this coming October 7th and 8th! We are splitting proceeds from this event and as you know money raised goes directly back to your kids, teachers, grants, classes and programs! If you have a 7th grader or older you can bring them to help and receive Volunteer hours. The best part of this fundraiser is you can have free Salmon days parking for your family!!
We’re off to a great start so far, this year with 62% participation in our PTSA membership. Our goal is 100%. Your membership is vital in supporting many of our PTSA programs such as All School Grants, Teacher Classroom Funds, Parent Education and Backpack Bootcamp. Did you know that your membership benefits include discounts to many businesses that support WSPTA’s mission? Some examples are discounts to Avis, FedEx Office, Great Wolf Lodge, Silverwood, Wild Waves and Sylvan Learning. Please consider signing up today. One more bonus, Family and Individual memberships include an IMS Student Directory!
In the fall, the National PTSA sponsors Reflections, a contest that celebrates the arts: visual, written, musical, video and dance. This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the talents of our artistic students.
The PTSA is searching for a chair to ensure that this program happens at IMS this fall.
Chair responsibilities include:
Advertising and encouraging submissions throughout the fall, organizing and facilitating a judging, hosting a celebration event in coordination with our November evening PTSA event and preparing/delivering selected art pieces to the district level for further competition.
We have a dedicated board of directors willing to support you!
